My Bio (Silken Verse)

Hello and welcome to my poetry site. I will take a little time to dispel a little of the mystery. As you may have become aware, I am a poet who writes under the pseudonym Silken Verse. I am 32 years old and I live on the east coast, New Jersey to be exact. I am an educator. I have taught in the public school system for nine years. I teach special education, specializing in learning disabilities.

I have written as far back as I can remember. From my first Haiku in second grade, to literary magazines in high school and in college, to my most recent endeavor, that of self publishing my book of sensual verse and narrative prose. The aspect of writing poetry I enjoy most, is using the power of the written word to extend an intimate touch to my reader. In a world where the harsh realities and stress of daily grind and the roughness of the struggle many encounter in life, sometimes seem overwhelming, the softness of a soothing embrace of verse can be just what it takes to disarm the caustic realities we contend with.

In addition to writing poetry, I also write short stories. I love writing narrative prose.
